Working Of EPD

With the E-paper invention, tiny microcapsules are suspended in a fluid within the film layer. The microcapsules are made up of negatively and positively charged black particles.

When a positive electric field is supplied to the surface, black electrical fields rise to the surface. When a negative electric field is applied, the white particles might rise to the surface. When applied to various fields on the screen, an e-ink produces a monochromatic text display.

1. Bi-Stability:

You don’t need any electricity to hold an image. Even if all the powers are removed, the E-paper (also known as Bistable) screen can readily store graphics. This is commonly referred to as “bistable.” it indicates that the display will only consume power when something evolves or changes.

For example, when browsing the eReader, power is only required when turning to a new page; there is no power usage while reading the display. The E-paper screen consumes little to no electricity compared to the same size LCD panel.

2. Reflective:

“The brighter the display, the brighter the ambient light”- E-paper. E-paper displays do not require a backlight; images are displayed on the e-paper using ambient light.

3. Rugged:

The E-paper display is exceptionally tough and excellent for rugged applications since it is constructed of an ink layer laminated to a plastic film substrate.
